Sharing a glimpse of my recent charcoal and watercolor illustrations created during a residency in Tuscany, Italy. The workshop was led by Brazilian watercolor painter Marcos Beccari, and the trip was funded by the Theater Communications Group as part of the 2024 Willa Kim Costume Design Scholarship.
During the residency, I learned to paint in layers, exploring the transparency and depth unique to watercolor. This process taught me patience and precision, and I began adapting the portrait style I studied into my costume design illustrations, blending expression and character through color and form.
